MID YEAR FREAKOUT! | 2018
When I started 2018, I had a few goals and in today's post I'll be going over them and seeing what I've accomplished so far this year. Also, please feel free to let me know how your yearly goals are going in the comment section below!
Reading Goals:
First of all, I set a goodreads goal of 100 books which is the same as the goal I set last year so I was pretty hopeful that I would be able to beat that goal just as I did in 2017. So far I've read a total of 63 books so I am well on the way to my goal and I am really happy with how much reading I've been doing lately.
I also wrote myself a list at the beginning of the year, and it consists of about 15-20 books that I really hope to get to before the end of the year. Those books are:
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
Shatter Me Series by Tahareh Mafi
Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton
Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
Red Sister by Mark Lawrence
The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch
Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
The Mortal Instruments and Infernal Devices Series' by Cassandra Clare
Captive Prince Trilogy by C.S. Pacat
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
So far I've read:
Shatter Me, Unravel Me, Ignite Me and the novella bind up. I've read the first couple of pages of Restore Me but I really don't want to have to wait ages for the next book so I'm trying to wait as long as I can before the next one releases.
The Final Empire
TMI: City of Bones, City of Ashes and City of Glass (I'm currently in the middle of City of Fallen Angels)
TID: Clockwork Angel (I've just started Clockwork Prince)
All three books in the Captive Prince trilogy and three of the companion novellas.
I'm also currently in the middle of HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban and I've read about a hundred pages of Falling Kingdoms but I've put that one down for a while because I just wasn't in the mood.
I'm rather happy with how my reading is going. There are still a lot of books on my list I really want to read soon and even more not on that list. It's more of a 'priorities' list not an exact tbr anyway though so I'm not putting too much pressure on myself to read them all. Since I'm a mood reader tbr lists aren't exactly the most effective thing for me, but there are so many fantasy books I want to read, and I thought that it would be fun to see how many of my most anticipated reads I could get to this year. We'll just have to wait and see what I can accomplish over course of the rest of the year.
YouTube Goals:
My main goal for YT was to make more content. And try to post at least 100 videos over the course of the year. So far I've only accomplished 21 videos so I'm pretty far behind on my goal, but I did move house at the beginning of the year and I had to wait months before I actually had a room to unpack my things and get back to making videos so I'm not too worried about not uploading because I genuinely did not have the time or resources to do so. However I am hoping to still reach my goal before the end of the year and I've been working on tonnes of content over the past couple of weeks and will start a more regular upload schedule very soon and hopefully I will be uploading regularly by the beginning of August. If you've wondered why I haven't posted my Autumn or Winter (Seasons Inspired) builds yet or anything over the last couple of weeks, it's because I wanted to get ahead on content to schedule. But they will be going up on my channel and on the sims 4 gallery very soon.
In addition to that I also wanted to make more videos with voice overs, which I have managed to do and am so proud of myself for not giving into my anxiety.
The last thing regarding my YT channel was that I wanted to make more Speed Drawing videos since I haven't really uploaded anything other than sims content for over a year. And again, I have been working on several pieces to get ahead and so I'll be less stressed when I eventually post my new upload schedule. Which I'll be making a post about soon!
Blog Goals:
My goals for this blog are similar to my YT goals in a sense since I basically wanted to post more. And even though I haven't been as active as I would have liked over the past couple of months I did get a pretty great start to the year and I've been working on a lot of posts recently. So if you're interested in seeing those, make sure you follow me on Twitter or Instagram and subscribe to my newsletter because I'll be posting plenty of updates whenever I upload on my blog. My username on most of the social media sites is @sophieelaina so I should be pretty easy to find! :)
Anyway, thats about it. The only life goal I set at the beginning of the year was to focus on the things that make me happy and work hard. Overall I'm very happy with how the year is going so far and I have a lot of hopes for the rest of 2018. I'd love to know about your goals in the comments below, so let me know how your year is going!
Thank you so much for reading!
