Review | Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Title: Six of Crows

Author: Leigh Bardugo

Published by Henry Holt and Company on Sept 29th 2015

Genre(s): Young Adult, Fantasy

Info: Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker has been offered wealth beyond his wildest dreams. But to claim it, he'll have to pull off a seemingly impossible heist:

Break into the notorious Ice Court(a military stronghold that has never been breached)

Retrieve a hostage(who could unleash magical havoc on the world)

Survive long enough to collect his reward(and spend it)

Kaz needs a crew desperate enough to take on this suicide mission and dangerous enough to get the job done - and he knows exactly who: six of the deadliest outcasts the city has to offer. Together, they just might be unstoppable - if they don't kill each other first.

“Many boys will bring you flowers. But someday you'll meet a boy who will learn your favourite flower, your favourite song, your favourite sweet. And even if he is too poor to give you any of them, it won't matter because he will have taken the time to know you as no one else does. Only that boy earns your heart.”

This book is so unique and I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of reading it! The plot is so well woven and I don't know how but at some point I fell in love with every single character. It worked so well because all of the characters that Leigh has created are so different, they were all so interesting and intriguing. So much so that it would still work if they all had their own book. The humour that Leigh Bardugo was able to weave into the story was brilliant and it made me giggle every time.

“He needed to tell her...what? That she was lovely and brave and better than anything he deserved. That he was twisted, crooked, wrong, but not so broken that he couldn't pull himself together into some semblance of a man for her. That without meaning to, he'd begun to lean on her, to look for her, to need her near. He needed to thank her for his new hat.”

The Grishaverse is such an amazing world that is build in such an intricate way that makes you just want to know more and more and you just can't stop reading. The magic system is also very interesting and so different from any other magic systems that I have read.

Leigh's writing style is phenomenal and love how magical she can make a story. I loved it just as much as the Grisha trilogy and I can't wait to see what happens next! If you enjoy books that keep you guessing and that make you try to work things out while your reading you will love this book! It will send you on a magical and exhilirating ride that you won't easily forget. 5/5 Stars! I would recommend this book for fans of the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas, The Snow Like Ashes trilogy by Sara Raasch and The Queen of the Tearling trilogy by Erika Johansen.
